Το
αστεροσκοπείο ARTEMIS και Δήμος
Καρπενησίου και ανακοινώνουν την υλοποίηση του προγράμματος ARTEMISNET
– Starlight Bridges, το οποίο χρηματοδοτείται από το the the Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) ) της Διεθνούς Αστρονομικής Ένωσης (IAU), στο πλαίσιο
των εγκεκριμένων έργων για το 2026. Η διεθνής αυτή τιμητική επιλογή, μεταξύ περισσότερων από 150
άλλων προτάσεων διεθνώς, αποτελεί
ιδιαίτερη διάκριση για το Καρπενήσι και αναγνωρίζει τη μοναδική ποιότητα του
νυχτερινού του ουρανού, καθώς και τον καινοτόμο, κοινοτικό χαρακτήρα της
πρωτοβουλίας αυτής.
Το ARTEMISNET
– Starlight Bridges είναι ένα ολοκληρωμένο πρόγραμμα κοινοτικού
αστροτουρισμού που αξιοποιεί τον σκοτεινό ουρανό του Καρπενησίου ως στρατηγικό
φυσικό και πολιτιστικό πόρο. Συνδέει την επιστήμη της αστρονομίας με την τοπική
ανάπτυξη, την εκπαίδευση και τη βιώσιμη τουριστική δραστηριότητα, μέσα από την
ενεργό συμμετοχή της τοπικής κοινωνίας, την εκπαίδευση κατοίκων, δράσεις για
σχολεία, ψηφιακές τεχνολογίες επαυξημένης πραγματικότητας και την αποκατάσταση
του Παρατηρητηρίου ARTEMIS.
Πρόκειται
για το πρώτο ολοκληρωμένο πρόγραμμα κοινοτικού αστροτουρισμού στην
Ελλάδα, με διεθνή επιστημονική υποστήριξη, όπου ο νυχτερινός ουρανός
αντιμετωπίζεται ως εργαλείο περιφερειακής ανασυγκρότησης και κοινωνικής
συνοχής. Το ARTEMISNET φιλοδοξεί να αποτελέσει πρότυπο καλής πρακτικής για
άλλες ορεινές και απομακρυσμένες περιοχές της χώρας, ενισχύοντας την
εξωστρέφεια, τη βιωσιμότητα και τη μακροπρόθεσμη ανθεκτικότητα της τοπικής
κοινωνίας.

The ARTEMIS Space
Observatory and the Municipality of Karpenisi jointly proudly announce the
implementation of the ARTEMISNET – Starlight Bridges programme,
which is funded by the Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) of the International
Astronomical Union (IAU), as part of the projects approved for 2026.
This international funding, selected from more than 150
applications globally, constitutes a
significant distinction for Karpenisi, recognizing both the exceptional quality
of its night sky and the innovative, community-driven character of the
initiative.
ARTEMISNET – Starlight
Bridges is a comprehensive community-based
astrotourism programme that leverages the dark skies of Karpenisi as a
strategic natural and cultural resource. It connects astronomical science with
local development, education, and sustainable tourism through the active
participation of the local community, resident training, school-focused
activities, the use of augmented reality digital technologies, and the
restoration of the ARTEMIS Observatory.
This is the first
fully integrated community astrotourism programme in Greece, supported by
international scientific expertise, in which the night sky is approached as a
tool for regional regeneration and social cohesion. ARTEMISNET aspires to serve
as a model of good practice for other mountainous and remote regions of the
country, strengthening outward-looking development, sustainability, and the
long-term resilience of local communities.
